OWL is a science and nature program funded by the PTO. An instructor from The Four Winds Nature Institute educates parent volunteers who then present the OWL lessons in their child’s class. It’s easy! All information, lesson plans, activities, and materials are provided. The kids love it and parents are often surprised at how much they learn too!
The parent workshops take place in the school cafeteria from 9:15am-11am on the following Thursdays, but the workshops are also videotaped for those who cannot attend. We need 3 or 4 volunteers from each class for the program to work. The OWL theme for this school year is “Ecosystems” Oct. 19th — Signs of Leaf Eaters Nov. 30th — Squirrel Tales Feb. 8th — Staying Warm Apr. 11th — Forest Birds After the parent workshops, class presentations are scheduled at the convenience of the OWL volunteers and the classroom teacher. Lesson topics are the same for all grades, so once you have attended or viewed a workshop, you can easily volunteer in each of your children’s classes. If you feel you can’t commit to all four workshops just sign up for the ones you are able to do. If you are interested in becoming an OWL volunteer, please sign up by Monday, September 25th here → https://tinyurl.com/2p8e7zfp Feel free to contact us at owlathpe@gmail.com with any questions you may have. |
